ISLAMABAD / SRINAGAR: The Indian forces detained hundreds of mourners after they opened fire during the Muharram processions in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and put stringent restrictions in compliance with the Kashmir Media Service (KMS) Act.
The occupying government had tightened restrictions in Srinagar, Badgam, Baramulla and other places to save other citizens from removing Muharram p.. Lal Chowk, the valley’s commercial centre, and adjacent areas of Srinagar have been completely sealed. Troops and police team of workers had been deployed around the occupied territory, who blocked major roads via striking up barricades.
However, defying restrictions, other people tried to take out Muharram processions in Srinagar and other spaces, with mourners preserving banners studying slogans like ‘Free Kashmir’

Hurriyat leaders Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Khawaja Firdous and Yasmeen Raja, in their statements, denounced the use of brute power on Muharram processions in Srinagar, Badgam and other parts of the Kashmir Valley. They termed the imposition of restrictions by way of the government as an interference within the religious affairs of Muslims.
In his opinion, the chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Young Men's League, Imtiaz Ahmed Reeshi, condemned the persecution of the celebration activists by the Indian government.
Police and witnesses reported that some of the people taking part in the Muharram processions in the outskirts of Srinagar shouted anti-India slogans earlier this week.
